 Milwaukee Acid House Bash 1988?

So while we're all on the subject of nostalgia, perhaps someone can help me piece this together:

I was watching a clip of old, local news footage on the 1988 riot that happened at the Social Distortion show at Odd Rock Cafe. That in itself was interesting as some of my earliest childhood memories happened in that area (father was a punk-rock runaway). Anyhoo, as I was watching I saw this:

It's only up for a second, but I made the mistake of noticing.

I know Jack had an obvious hand in Milwaukee Metalfest (and surely it's demise), but was not aware of the acid events in town during the 80's. This, as far as I understand, pre-dates DBN.

My questions are these: Who booked these? Is there any footage/sound recordings? Can it even be compared to the likes of a "rave"? Am I just mistaking this for a terrible jam-band from Madison?

I mean, this is pretty damn impressive if "Acid Tracks" was released in '87 and we were having parties in '88.

Anyone?

I asked Kurt if he had any input on this, but had not heard back from him yet.

From Mister Kurt:

"i was at that social distortion show. my old roommate got some great footage of the cop beat down with this cool low tech video camera. we went to see them in chicago after that...a show that had a lot of nazi skinheads which was even scarier that the milwaukee cops scene, but no riot.

as for that acid house night...that doesn't ring a bell. but then again, i may have been there if social d was not the next night in chicago? damn, a guys memory is the first to go. anyway, it's definitely not acid like we think of acid. i was into dance music then and going to chicago for house music in 88. i remember house nights at club new york around that time with the hotmix 5 guys from chicago playing. i was the only white guy at those. fast eddie and tyre cooper played at the red corvette (across from the odd rock) if you can believe that. i'm going to guess tom crawford (from wmsoe) had something to do with this...ask him.
