I got your fuckin' LOL right here.

So I remember my old roommate telling me a story about finding a few addict releases, including the J-Slim binary breaks, at the local thrift store, but I just passed it off as being bullshit.

That was until I found this at my local thrift store yesterday morning:

106 fucking copies of the Emotional Joystick Orange E.P. for 33 cents a piece. The real kicker was that at the same store I found a Zod sticker on an old turntable surrounded by the likes of New Found Glory and The Ataris.

All laughter aside, how the fuck did this happen? New distribution method? So many questions....I'll spare the jokes.

Well?

Oh..and yes I bought them all. That is my couch.

Tom, care to explain? I remember it was a hilarious clusterfuck if I recall correct and the release was shelved. How they wound up at a thrift store I have no clue...

dude. what the fucking fuck. How in the motherfuck did that happen? Please please please do not sell those. I will explain more... here is the story.

- We were originally going to do a picture disc with that label art (each side is the picture of the instrument used to create the music).

- We went through a cheapy pressing plant, and sent the test presses back literally 3 times.

- We thought it was because of the picture disc material being different, so we had them do colored vinyl, and told them to match the orange on the label. Well obviously that did not work, and we got a weird pepto-bysmal orange instead

- Even though we approved a test pressing, something got fucked up with either the plates, or the pressing and the audio is super fucked up. Tons of noise / clicks / pops in the same places on every record.

- Instead of sending the shipment of 300 back, we just scrapped the thing and asked for a refund, which they granted.

As far as I know, they were all still sitting in Ben or Sam's basement, waiting to be disposed of. How the fuck they ended up at a thrift store is beyond me, but I'm seriously going to kill someone.

Dude, can you PLEASE not sell or distribute these? I will pay you back the money, plus a bit extra for your trouble if you destroy these (in whatever way you see fit). Please email me at: thomas.wincek@gmail.com and we can talk more about it.

Also, for anyone interested in hearing the material, it's actually available FOR FREE (along with an entire album of similar stuff) on the net-label Stasisfield. Download to your heart's desire, and never think of the 7" again:

lol. They look really bad imo too though, that was part of the problem. That orange is terrible, and in no way matches the art...

Indeed, where is this thrift store? For what it is worth, I have what I think are the remaining thousand or whatever of these records, still in their boxes, in my basement. I was thinking of making wallpaper of them in some stupid way, but am all for a disco demolition -- doing so with crates upon crates of Hecate records, especially the Thunderinas farce, made me beyond happy years back.

There was never a thousand of those produced, ****... We did 300, and it sounds like you have the rest of them. Still leaves the mystery of how the fuck this happened...

Keep in mind, this isn't backstock, it's an aborted release... Feel free to discard at will...

I evidently cannot judge the number of records in sealed boxes and am apparently showing my true colors in relation to unreleased IDM releases of yore. Pity nostalgia.

Either way, you are more than welcome to take all of those dust collectors off my hands while thanking me for cleaning out that basement and preventing further and more widespread incidents. I can assure you that I've had zero desire to crack any open for a listen.

"As far as I know, they were all still sitting in Ben or Sam's basement, waiting to be disposed of. How the fuck they ended up at a thrift store is beyond me, but I'm seriously going to kill someone."

Come on man, no one cares - seriously. If anything these should be inserted for free into Pizza Shuttle boxes and thereby disposed of when people toss the menu (which looks approximately like a foldout glossy rave flyer if I recall correctly).

I can't wait to hear how this thrift store inquiry goes, however: "WHERE THE FUCK DID YOU GET THESE RECORDS FOR, ETC ETC BLAH.. BL... WHAT? I'M TELLING YOU ABOUT ACETATES AND PICTURE DISCS AND SHI... WHA? WHAT? YOU DON'T KNOW OR CARE WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT?! UHM... BUT... BUT PEOPLE ARE SUPPOSED TO KNOW ABOUT... WAIT... NO ITS FREE ON THE INTER... UHM... OKAY... SO... I JUST NEEDED TO MAKE SURE SOME MORE PEOPLE KNEW THE STOR... OK... OK FINE, YOU DON'T CARE, JOIN THE CLUB."

Please report.

Before you piss yourself with more silly explosions of anger, please remember the immortal words: Everything is going to just be okay.

Now, here's an actual suggestion to consider:
1) Tom wants the 7 inches destroyed.
2) Ty wants to do what's right with the vinyls.
3) A few months ago, Kevin dubbed Ty "Toastcore" following a conversation on the phorum about powering a kitchen toaster via Ty's Amiga during a Stagediver set in Chicago, which actually led to an amazing Toastcore set - a real blast.
4) Ty is playing as Stagediver at the Galactic Ass Dragon Classic in Pittsburgh this summer.
5) What if Ty powered a heavy-duty office shredder off of his Amiga during his set, and incorporated as part of his set the shredding of all 106 copies of this Milwaukee release, representing the city and the Addict legend Emotional Joystick himself, mic'ing the noise of the shredder to incorporate into his set, as criss crossed shards of orange vinyl are scattered over the audience.

(I'm really thinking this would be pretty awesome - and I know Ty could pull it off.)

Your move.

ha ha. Dude, fuck you, cocksucker.

My only concern is people listening to what's on the vinyl and having it sound bad. I understand there's not a huge demand for these, but I have gotten plenty of offers over the years from people wanting to buy them, and I've always refused, as I'm very dissatisfied with how it turned out. This situation is no different...

As for your (super hilarious!) suggestion on how to get rid of them (You're a regular Joe Piscopo!), again I don't care... As long as they are put out of commission.

And yes, I'm interested in how the fuck the ended up at a thrift store (?!?!) wouldn't you be?

Eat a dick

Also, I think you were confusing "general surprise" in my earlier posts with "explosions of anger". I can see how you might make that mistake.

Have a great day!

(Oh, and if you make any lame "what a wife beater says to a cop" jokes, it's because you are not that bright and have terrible taste in music.)

Isn't that effectively what wife-beaters tell cops responding to domestic violence complaints? Just sayin...

Well... I dunno. I know I said something to the contrary above, but actually you make a good point about that. I have been meaning to do some little "baby steps" as they say - breathing more, doing a little yoga, taking walks when I get angry instead of smashing dishes and yelling at my kid. Instead of freaking out about little things, I'm gonna, say, drink a glass of water, take a deep breath, step away from the source of my anger (laptop, whatever), and do a walk around the block... something nice and easy... I'll get it through it. (And the hell if I'm gonna get slapped with yet another disorderly for getting bent out of shape at home after work... it's not fair to my wife, and more significantly, it's not fair to myself.)

And actually that idea of shredding the records as part of a stage act, well, that would be kinda cool, especially if it was powered off of an Amiga. I'd love to hear how that turns out.

Also pretty stoked on that Schizophrenia lineup. If there's a preparty slot for me to break out some new jams, that would be cool - if not no probs.

I was actually going to praise the awesome quality of this release. Compared to my recent 7" (plug #1) this shit is Yanni/Mario Lopez's 6-pack status...and the orange is actually pretty cool in person. These fucking things are *extremely* heavy for a 7" too.

Good work! (?)

I listened to a few figuring this was backstock and/or abandoned and I didn't hear any odd clicks or noises, so that's why it was such a head-scratcher for me. This is all of course compared to my piss-poor 7" (plug #2).

This all still doesn't explain the turntable with the emo stickers/zod sticker and whether or not there is a connection there. It's not everyday you find a label's sticker with over a hundred copies of unreleased vinyl from said label on the other side of the store. I won't even get into what I saw a kid doing to it with a crayon...I even saw one in a toaster! How's that for fate?

If you have zero intent on selling these (as I do) and don't want anyone to hear them I'd love to keep/destroy them instead of spending $60+ to ship out. I have a set in Chicago where I'll be selling my new 7" (plug #3) soon that might benefit from these.

I'd like to turn this thread back to the original issue at hand if I may:

Is my couch the same as the one pictured on Unibomber's myspace?

Confirm?

The couch is/might be for sale very soon Brett. Comes with a matching love seat and chair.

Ty,

Thanks so much for getting back to me dude... I sent you an email back...

As for you thinking they were not THAT bad, perhaps, they were very counter what my intention / expectation was though... So that was enough. We got a refund at the time, so no skin off anyone's back... It was just weird seeing all of those pop up like that though... Like getting a visit from a dead relative... That one Uncle who was always a dick...

Anyway, thanks again... Best of luck!

Anyone want to help write this listing?

What's the point? They were already listed on Craigslist, for FREE, and as the photo documentation above reveals, practically everything (including the lid of the box) was taken BUT the records. Let's not cheapen the hilarity of this by pulling ebay into the mix.
