In addition to making many of our out-of-print release available for free download on our site in their CATALOG listings, we have also added the following section:

ADDICT_ARCHIVE_SERIES

Old live sets, unreleased garbage, bad live recordings, dj mixes, etc. We hope to add a lot more to this in the future and if anyone has something to contribute please speak up.

Really, really like what you guys are doing here. It must be hard to gauge where your hard work stands when every comment is a sarcastic one but let me say that I, for one, really appreciate it! Looking forward to the rest of what's to come. Any word on signing new artists in this recession of ours?

Why do these recordings sound like shit?

The Stunt Rock ones sound like shit because of the reasons noted (tape recorder, no line in). The Unibomber ones sound just fine, and the Doormouse one sounds ok considering it's from tape.

The mixtape of mine was recorded to DAT, then transfered to casette tape, then re-recorded for an MP3. It sounds blown out because it's blown out.
I listened to it last week and thought it was fitting for the era it came from...Distorted, junky, cheap and soaked in sweat and beer. You want perfect sound, listen to some IDM. We promote RSNDM 'round here.

i would assume that StuntRock should have a recording from Circle A of himself?

unless he's looking for a cellphone recording of it?

I should have been a little clearer. My apologies. The mixes sound fine.

I owned the original Soft and Gentle tape and I remember the tape's inner sleeve stating the shit quality. "Technical fruity bullshit" I believe was the exact wording...

I was actually referring to the Addict releases mp3s. I have the vinyls so I know how these bad boys *should* sound. :: Waves finger ::

Horrible digital clipping abound!

Well, we're doing this as we go here, and I suppose we should have dug a little deeper. Some mp3's in the catalog section are from vinyl rips, and some are from digital sources. We're trying to get everything together to get the digital sources, but as of right now Addict006 is really the only one from a straight digital source.

We'll work on getting finer copies of Addict 1-4 for ya.

And I had the Circle A mp3, but then I lost it.

Thanks for all of these mp3s, especially the early addict releases. I guess now I won't be forced to scour discogs and pay for old records just to see what it was like back a few years. I'll focus that money towards some new releases.

Does anyone have the Stunt Rock Regret vol 2 release party at Thai Joe's where Bacon was rambling about how the Irish Iraqi's just took over america and were headed toward Wisconsin?

Great set by Baseck that night too. Two records on each turntable!

Just dug up a three hour live recording from Madison student radio circa 2002 with Josh, Bacon and I. In the process of editing it down for mass consumption.

go with f'n doormouse as long as it sounds like it was recorded to tape, dubbed to DAT and recorded back to tape.

Oh yes, it has been analogly (sp?) remastered thru (wow) a Nemark DM1002X breaaaaa. Seriously it is straight from tape to CD to Internet and sounds "hardcore". DAT's are Bullshit, you save things from tape, or you don't save at all... (No warning shots, warning shots are bullshit... You shoot to kill or you don't shoot at all.)

P.P.S. It is from the original 1996? version not the poser "repress" version. (Even before the OEM Massive Mag orange grenade stickers and what not.) Amazing and beyond defining the "Madison sound" of the day. History lession/drunk rambling, Madison, WI was the Hardcore capital of the world in one 1990's point in time. Wildside!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a (horrible quality) recording of stunt rock from 2003/09/05 in new brunswick (the infamous 'shaving' show). seriously, it sounds almost like some noise set, completely blown out, but there is some great stand up on it. drop me a line if you want.
